The Official EPS-TOPIK Standard Textbook: Free Downloads and How to Use It
Why this book matters more than any private book
The official site states: "Since 2013, all EPS-TOPIK test questions have been developed confidentially based on the Standard Korean Language Textbook" (source: epstopik.hrdkorea.or.kr, checked 2026-08-24). In other words, every question you will face is written from this book. It is published by HRD Korea and distributed free of charge.
The 2024 full revision
On 2024-12-23, Korea's Ministry of Employment and Labor announced the first complete overhaul of the Standard Korean Language Textbook in 11 years, updated for policy changes and current industrial workplace needs (source: moel.go.kr press release, checked 2026-08-24). The long-used earlier edition was organized into 8 themes and 60 units across two volumes, starting from Hangul basics and greetings up to workplace and safety Korean. When you download, make sure you are getting the newest edition posted on the official site.

The textbook materials are distributed under Korea's KOGL (공공누리) public license with a source-attribution condition: you may use them freely if you credit the source (HRD Korea), while some photos, images and illustrations inside may carry separate third-party rights (checked 2026-08-24). SETOPIK follows this rule: where our study content is based on the standard textbook, the source is credited as "한국산업인력공단(HRD Korea), EPS-TOPIK Standard Korean Language Textbook, KOGL attribution".
How to use it well
- Work through units in order — vocabulary and grammar build on earlier units
- Listen to each unit's audio at least twice: once while reading the script, once without
- After each theme, solve the matching part of the open question book to see how the book turns into exam questions
